Good morning, and welcome to my fifth Weekend Writing Warriors installment. The basic rules are pretty simple:
- Add your name and genre(s) to the most recent post on the WeWriWa site
- Post a link to the WeWriWa site on your blog/Sunday post
- Keep your excerpt 10 sentences or less (8-10, no more!)
- Visit other WeWriWa authors and experience their work
(Find a complete set on the WeWriWa page as well as links to pages of all the authors involved. Check it out.)
Thank you for visiting! Today I offer you ten sentences from my JatWW fanfic, The Was Long Variation. IMHO, Fanfiction is an undervalued writer’s tool. Using another’s well-defined setting and characterization limits offers an excellent sandbox to test your own characters and settings, as well as your general writing ability. And… it’s just plain fun.
This snippet occurs between my characters, Kieri Vestimorn and Atyriia Alantarii, after Kieri lost a bet.
He wanted to say no, that he was smarter than that. He didn’t. She was beautiful, her every gesture that of a woman who wanted him as he was… for who he was. No sane man could deny that–nor did he want to. Just touching her arm, the feel of her skin under his fingertips, had made his blood sing. He only hesitated long enough to whisper “How far?” He wanted everything; she had to set the limits.
“Just kiss me. I’m not ready for more yet.”
Thank you for reading; I hope you enjoyed the piece. Coming up for WIPpet Wednesday, please enjoy another sample of the Was Long Variation. For the month of June, I have switched all my bloghop snippets to this work as I dive full-steam in the ♥Just Write♥ madness that are JuNoWriMo and Ready. Set WRITE! challenges.
